For all the #coronabrides

From our Head Stylist Elise (aka #coronabride)

The invitations were ordered, our envelopes addressed. On the 2nd of March I picked up my dress. With only 8 weeks to go, we were full steam ahead with all our vendors confirmed. Our grins went from ear to ear whenever anyone told us ‘not long to go now!’

Then everything changed. And it changed. So. Quickly.

My name’s Elise, and I’m a #coronabride.

As a stylist with Little Lane, this pandemic has been devastating as I’ve watched my couples struggle with what to do now.

As a bride myself - due to get married in May -  it brought my world to a standstill.

To all the brides and grooms out there who are distraught, angry and confused. I understand.

This was supposed to be your day. Everyone else gets theirs, so why has this happened to yours?

It’s okay to cry, to mourn the loss of your original plans, and to drink the cute little cocktail bottles you’d originally ordered as bridal party gifts (sorry groomsmen!).

If you’re like me, you’re probably wondering whether your day will still be what you envisioned.

I’m here to tell you that it will. And I’m going to tell you why.

First and foremost, you have amazing people there to help you. Your vendors are seasoned professionals, and you have hired them for a reason - because you love what they do! We work so closely with photographers, florists, caterers, venue coordinators and everyone else who makes a wedding happen. We can tell you that they will go to the ends of the earth for every single couple.

If you can, support your vendors through this tough time. On our original wedding day, my fiancé and I plan to go and buy a beautiful bunch of flowers from our wonderful florist Wild Lotus pop a bottle of bubbles and sit on our little apartment balcony. Just because we can’t have our wedding on our date anymore doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate the love that we have for each other - the love that will survive through all of this madness.

And that’s also another reason why your day will be perfect, even if it is a little later. Your love is not cancelled.

Take it from me - someone who has coordinated more weddings than I can count. The married couple always, ALWAYS have the best day ever. No matter rain, hail or postponement. Your guests will still want to celebrate your glorious love, your dance floor will light up with all your favourite people who are extra keen to party. Everyone will still gasp as you walk down the aisle, your fiancé will still stand there gawking in awe. It will all be perfect.

If you’re still pacing the kitchen in your pyjamas wondering where to start, here are ten steps to take you from anxious to organised.

This time we’re in is the new normal - just for a little bit. You are doing the absolute best you can right now.

If you’ve had to move your wedding, take this extra time to breathe. You can do this!

If you’re recently engaged, or you’re going ahead and eloping - the hugest congratulations! It’s so amazing to have such happy news in a time that needs it more than ever. I know that your new adventure into engaged and married life is one that will most definitely be worth telling your grandchildren about!
