How to create your dream concept board

Your favourite person in the whole world just got down on one knee and asked you the question you have been waiting for what feels like a lifetime. You cry, you hug, you say “a thousand times yes” and then you head straight to computer.
The time has finally come where you can start planning your wedding without being classed as that crazy wanna be bride or groom. You actually ARE going to be a bride or a groom! YAY!!!
I know, I know, you want to jump straight onto Pintrest and get those pin boards happening, but before you get lost down the rabbit hole, it is best to set some structure so you don’t end up overwhelmed and with a clash of so many styles you don’t even know where to begin.
The best way to start is by thinking about your overall style and colour tone with words. These are your very first steps into creating your dream wedding day and keeping a clear vision.
FIND THE WORDS
Write down as many words that best describe your style, colour tone or feel that you wish to evoke on your wedding day. Handy tip… always be mindful of considering any style or colours that may already be set, such as the venue aesthetic or any furniture pieces that may be included in your package. Let’s work with these little critters and not against them! Trust me on this!
A few styles and words to get you thinking are boho, chic, classic, elegant, wild, romantic, French cottage, tropical, luxe, earthy, tonal, whites, coastal.
Ok, I promise you no more words! Its time to get stuck into the best bit of all. It’s time to pin those deliciously pretty pictures!
START YOUR PINING!
Start by breaking up your pin boards on Pintrest into the categories I have listed below. From the very beginning I can assure you, Pintrest is like a delicious warm chocolate fountain, the goodness just keeps coming and your never ever gonna want to stop! I’ve warned you!
Breaking it up into bite sized portions like this allows you to be extremely focused on each item. And also makes them easily accessible if you need to go back and find an image and show your bestie those gorgeous “out of your price range” shoes you want!

Now its time to PIN AWAY!!!!! Take your time to get lost in the portal and have some serious fun. Feel free to pin everything and anything at this stage, I wont reign you in this early!!!
Its also important to keep your eye out on other sources such as those enticing glossy magazines, wedding blogs and Instagram. But my favourite inspiration of all would have to be the unexpected day to day finds that catch your eye. Things you may not even know you love such as the texture of a linen ribbon, or the different ivory tones of coral, a blush leather handbag or even the rich gloss foliage of a palm frond. All these little things will now make you stop and desire for this to be part of your special day. I can hear you ask, “how the hell am I meant to make a blush leather handbag part of my special day?” Well let me tell you my dear friend. That blush leather handbag could be the inspiration for gorgeous place cards, or stunning favours for your guests. Enjoy being your beautiful unique self and sharing things you love with the people that make your heart happy.
PULLING IT ALL TOGETHER
Now it’s time to start pulling it all together. My favourite bit!
Find whatever works best for you. Powerpoint, Canva or simply printing out your images and scrap booking them into a well-loved book. Cue warm and fuzzy feeling!
I always suggest being quite ruthless at this point. You’ve had all the time in the world to be a pinning obsessed machine, but now it’s time to reign it in! You knew it was coming!
Start by going through one category at a time and just pulling a small (yes I said small!) handful of your most favourite images. Try your best to keep each category to one page of images so you can see them all laid out together. As you go through category by category you will find a beautiful organic flow of colour, tone and style.
